S & H Plumbing and Heating recently completed a kitchen upgrade project for a customer in West Bridgford, Nottingham. This project involved the installation of a new kitchen sink mixer tap and a modern 5-burner gas hob. Working alongside my apprentice Huewin, we delivered a professional service that has transformed our customer's kitchen.
A kitchen sink mixer tap is a single tap unit that combines both hot and cold water supplies, allowing you to control the water temperature and flow from one convenient spout. Unlike traditional separate hot and cold taps, a mixer tap lets you blend the two water streams to achieve your desired temperature instantly.
The primary advantage is the ability to achieve the perfect water temperature effortlessly. Mixer taps help reduce water wastage significantly, as you don't need to run the water for longer whilst trying to balance temperature. Today's mixer taps come in a wide variety of styles and finishes to complement any kitchen aesthetic. Many feature single-lever operation, allowing you to control both water flow and temperature with one hand.
Our customer in West Bridgford wanted to update their kitchen with a new mixer tap that would provide better functionality and complement their kitchen's modern aesthetic. After discussing their requirements and preferences, we recommended a suitable mixer tap.
The installation process involved isolating the water supply and carefully removing the existing taps, disconnecting the water supply lines and loosening the fixing nuts. With the old taps removed, we cleaned the sink area thoroughly and checked that the tap hole was suitable.
We fitted the new mixer tap according to manufacturer specifications, achieving secure fixing to the sink. The supply lines were connected carefully, with proper sealing to prevent any leaks.
Once installed, we turned the water supply back on and tested the tap thoroughly, checking for any leaks, proper water flow, and smooth operation of the temperature control.
We also installed a new 5-burner gas hob for our customer. A 5-burner hob offers excellent flexibility for cooking multiple dishes simultaneously, with burners of varying sizes to accommodate different pan sizes and cooking methods.
Installing a gas hob is specialist work that must only be carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers.
At S & H Plumbing and Heating, all our engineers hold the necessary Gas Safe qualifications.
For this West Bridgford installation, my apprentice Huewin assisted me throughout the process, gaining valuable hands-on experience under proper supervision.
We began by isolating the gas supply and safely disconnecting the existing hob before carefully removing the old appliance. Before installing the new hob, we inspected the gas supply pipe to verify it was in good condition.
The new 5-burner gas hob was carefully positioned in the worktop cutout, making certain it sat level and secure. We connected the gas supply using the appropriate fittings and seals, following all Gas Safe guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
Once installed, we carried out rigorous safety checks using professional gas detection equipment. We tested all five burners individually, checking for proper ignition, flame quality and performance. We also checked all gas connections for any signs of leaks using approved detection methods.
After successfully completing all safety checks, we demonstrated the hob's operation to our customer, explaining the different burner sizes, heat controls, and safety features.
